Kirsten Møller and Mikkel Bruun Sundtoft

Kirsten and Mikkel form the leadership team behind J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik, the iconic Danish furniture factory established by Kirsten’s grandfather, Niels Otto Møller. As the developmental force behind the company, they carry forward the legacy of one of Denmark’s most revered furniture manufacturers.

With professional backgrounds in business, both Kirsten and Mikkel bring a unique perspective to furniture design—combining strategic thinking with a deep respect for craftsmanship and material integrity. Their shared understanding of business, design, and manufacturing allows them to guide the evolution of J.L. Møllers with a comprehensive and forward-thinking approach.

Kirsten, a third-generation member of the Møller family, draws on the company’s rich design heritage while adding a modern sensibility to new pieces. Mikkel, the company’s director, leads the ongoing modernization of the factory and plays a key role in ensuring the brand’s continued relevance and growth. Under their guidance, the family-owned factory continues its dedication to craftsmanship. Every piece is still processed, assembled, and finished by hand in Denmark, maintaining the same rigorous standards that have defined the company for over 80 years.

In 2025, the pair introduced Model 14, the first dining table to enter full-scale production at J.L. Møllers in many years. Inspired by an archival design from the 1950s and developed through months of hands-on prototyping, the table marks a return to a legacy of table-making that complements the company’s iconic dining chairs.

As in the past, we continue to use only solid wood and the finest materials, handcrafting each Møller piece in our Aarhus-based factory. Guided by Niels Otto’s mindset of systemized production, we blend technological efficiency with craftsmanship, reviving archival designs and honoring our founder's timeless collection. By doing so, we ensure each design is not only a testament to traditional woodworking, but also a tribute to classic Danish design and a lasting work of art to be cherished over time.
