Maintenance – Oiled surfaces

Daily cleaning
Wipe with a clean, dry cloth. If the surface is stained, wipe the whole surface with a wrung-out cloth, previously dipped in soap solution or water containing washing-up liquid - no more than a teaspoonful per litre of water. Wipe down with a clean, dry cloth.

Thorough cleaning
Remove thin layers of oil with white spirit. Warning - inflammable! Ensure adequate ventilation! After wiping down, apply a thin coating of furniture oil. If necessary sand the wet oil very slightly – always along the grain – with glass paper no. 320 or 360. Fine ScotchBrite can also be used. Wipe thoroughly with clean, dry cloths.
Warning! Cloths impregnated with furniture oil can be self-igniting and should therefore be thrown away after dampening with water and wrapping in aluminium foil.
